::ABSOLUTE DISASTER! Very tired and poorly designed chinese furniture. Broken curtain hangers, messey phone and router wires, broken toilet flush button, peeled off hand painted bath tub, spit on curtains, broken tv cabinet doors, dust on bedside tables, no hand or face towels, worn out and discolored pillow cases and bath towels, USED OR HALF FILLED MINI SHAMPOO BOTTLES.. basicly everything you would expect in a no star hotel. All this was topped up by a pathetic housekeeping service, coffee and tea bags costed me over 10 calls to the house keeping and front desk, hour and a half of waiting and an angry complaint at the front desk. At night, you should expect very loud music that shakes the entire hotel till 4 am. Gladly, breakfast was the last disaster.. cold tastless lentil soup, cold sausages, tiny takeaway coffee cups with plastic teaspoons, same as what you get from the mobile coffee cars on the roads which is sold for 50 cents. The restaurant staff were more than food types served there. Cheap in every way. The hotel charged me 4% extra for credit card payment, and staff failed to charge me in my own currency as requested. The only good thing about this hotel is that you might get asked about the quality of your stay by an incredibly beautiful lady at the front desk when you checkout. All in all, never make my sitake and look somewhere else. See photos

::I am writing these words with hope that it regains the charms of old Ishtar hotel, services degraded, from the icon that brings many memories of the old days in 80's, with some renovations and attention of the management team, I believe this hotel can regain that charm...

::Visitor can tell that the hotel is very old from first impression. Entrance to hotel is not a good experience and security check was poor which made me concerned. Receptionist was not professional. Room was not very clean and all windows were blocked with wooden panels as the hotel overlooks the green zone. Breakfast was poor in quality, and selection. Could not evaluate service as there wasn't any. I hope management takes my notes positively to improve the hotel and hire professional staff.

::The hotel was renovated but not to a high standards, the housekeeping does not meet today's standards, I checked in and when received the room I was able to see hair on the pillows and on the bed sheets. This shouldn't happen in 5 star hotel. I checked out 6 am but couldn't have breakfast because the restaurant was not ready to provide services.

::From a safety perspective it is good. The rooms were clean, sheets were changes daily and room cleaning was good. Room service was lacking, we asked for glasses and all we got were cups. The staff was polite and deacent in the most part. I wont say they went out of their way! Breakfast was ok, not a huge setlection but enough. Nothing memorable! Yet as I understood it and for the current situation in Iraq it is a god option to stay at.
