  A historical overview of the establishment of the Police College 1. The Police College was established in 1944 under Regulation No. (2) of 1944, which established its affiliation with the General Police Directorate. It included both (the Police High School for graduating officers and the Police Preparatory School for graduating commissioners) and its location was in the Al-Bataween area (currently the Ministries Complex). 2. In 1966, the Police College Regulation No. (25) of 1966 was issued, which made the college directly linked to the Minister of Interior and made study in the college (4) years equivalent to the study prescribed in the Iraqi Law College in addition to the military and security sciences, and the graduate is granted a bachelor’s degree in law and police. 3. In 1969, this system was abolished with the issuance of Police College Regulation No. (1) of 1969, and studies were returned to (3) years instead of (4) years, and the college was reconnected with the General Police Directorate. 4. In 1970, the college moved to its current location (formerly the headquarters of the Armed Forces) opposite the Ministry of Interior building. 5. In 1994, a strange decision was issued by the Council of Ministers and reported in the Council’s letter M.W. 8021 on July 5, 1994, that the enrollment of fresh and intermediate grade students from the Police College should be in (the Second Military College), as stated in the justification (for their military and physical preparation, and then they join the advanced grade of the Police College to complete their legal and security qualification), and this anomalous situation continued until 22 January 1. 2001. 6. In the year 2000, Police College Law No. (37) of 2000 was issued, granting graduates of the college a bachelor’s degree in police sciences, granting faculty members at the college the privileges enjoyed by university service employees, and restoring the college’s connection with the Minister of Interior. 7. Based on persistent efforts by the Police College and the Ministry of the Interior, the Presidency was re-approached with the importance of reconsidering the decision to send the Police College students to the Military College, along with presenting a comprehensive study that we prepared on the justifications for that. The approval of the Council of Ministers was obtained and was communicated in the Cabinet letter M.W./57/11238 on January 22, 2001, which included (restoring the Police College as it was previously, taking into account the availability of the ability to graduate officers Real students equipped with military sciences, in addition to specialization related to maintaining security and implementing legal tasks imposed by laws and regulations. An order was also issued to form inspection units from the General Command of the Armed Forces, which will verify the level of military training of college students. Coordination was made with the Ministry of Defense to continue the intermediate students (the 54th course of the Police College) in the Second Military College and to begin enrolling the new students (the 55th course of the Police College) in this college starting from the academic year 2002. In fact, the freshmen students joined on January 7, 2002, and the advanced course (the 53rd course of the Police College), which ended two years in the Second Military College, was enrolled in this college on January 1, 2001 and joined Intermediate course (Course 54 of the Police College) at this college on 1 December 2002
