The first college of pharmacy in Iraq founded in 1936 and offers MSc degree since 1972...some of the most experienced people in the pharmaceutical field are found here

It was a good college especially before the gulf wars, but now it's corrupted and it's academic level went down specifically after 2003 where the policies in Iraqi government would rather prompt a dean or a professor from a certain political party just like the deans after 2003. The only good thing about it is the gardens of the faculty and its sports department and some few great scholars. The labs do really lack the essential instruments, the library doesn't have a good internet access to resources. the professors majorly are not that good scholars except for few great scholars which show a great potential especially in Clinical Pharmacology. the Pharmaceutical Chemistry department by far has a very poor staff, the best department in the faculty is Pharmacology department having an exciting scholars over there such as Dr. Dhia which always shares articles and books in his website, the pharmaceutics department is fair as well as pharmacognosy and other departments. another dark face of the faculty that their graduate program selection is very biased and corrupted. not focusing on the student potential but rather the relations between the MSc candidate and the professors. Also the graduating students are obligated to be involved within the staff of Ministry of Health without any other options.
