  Alawi Garage serves travelers going to Najaf, Karbala, Hilla, as well as Mosul, Tikrit, Samarra, Ramadi, and other cities along the same routes. Nahda Garage is for trips to Basra, Maysan, Nasiriyah, Erbil, Sulaymaniyah, Kirkuk, and other cities along those routes.

  It can seem very chaotic for westerners, but the place works like that: Small buses or taxis are parking all over the area. They are separated by their destination. People will shout the destination they are heading to and how many more passengers they need to start. If you arrive, simply ask anyone there about your destination, they will point you in the right direction. Prices vary, you can haggle. You can either share a taxi with random people or pay it alone. Cash only, Dinar preferred. There are no timetables and this place works all day. I recommend going very early to avoid Baghdad traffic.
